SAFETY:

According to the United States Department of Labor, roofing is the sixth most dangerous profession. In spite of that daunting statistic, A.C.I. has consistently provided a safe working environment for our skilled craftsmen.

Our safety record is so outstanding, that we considered the option of not revealing it. Why? Because     A.C.I. is so safe, we feared that some would not believe our record. But, here it is. A.C.I. has not had a lost time accident since 1985. Extraordinary and incredible, but true.

How have we accomplished this remarkable feat? While some companies taught their written safety programs, A.C.I. takes additional steps. While we do have a written safety program, we also understand that many of our employees will not learn the vitally important information using rote memory.

For that reason, we utilize a stringent safety walk-through of each project. Before an employee steps foot onto a project, an A.C.I. safety inspector has evaluated the project, located safety concerns and formulated a safety program specifically for that particular project.

When A.C.I. personnel arrive at the jobsite, the first task is to implement that project's safety program. The duties of the "first man up" are to begin set up of safety equipment. Then, throughout the project, each day is started with a safety meeting. Items of concern are discussed and the previous day's safety is evaluated. This meeting is designed to make sure that everyone on the crew has mentally prepared for the day and that they are aware of the inherent dangers in their immediate environment. The safety program is evaluated repeatedly throughout the project. The A.C.I. approach requires constant vigilance, screening, evaluation and a strong desire to see every employee go home safely.

Nothing makes A.C.I. more proud than knowing that for 19 years, every employee has gone home safely every night. And, being safe is great business. It reduces insurance rates, eliminates costly litigation resulting from accidents and it makes A.C.I. more competitive in the marketplace.
